Battlefield Farms
Originally built in 1982 as a co-generation facility to hydroponically produce lettuce, Battlefield Farms was sold in 1988 and converted to produce bedding plants and holiday crops. Sold again in 1990 to current owner, the 6.5 acre facility was expanded and retrofitted to create 8 different growing spaces and the products were expanded to year-round. Today they are one of the largest wholesale producers of floriculture crops in Virginia, employing 90 full time workers while adding an additional 50 to 70 seasonally.
Crops produced include poinsettias, bedding plants, hanging baskets, garden mums, pansies, perennials and aquatics.
